DARGAN
PARK, Pontiac Park District, Pontiac, Illinois This small public park features three sculptures by Barry Tinsley gifted to Pontiac by the Dargan family. The 12-15’ tall corten steel structures illustrate the solution to the riddle posed by Medusa to Ulysses, the three stages of life – childhood, middle age and old age. A new walkway was introduced to the site to organize the pathway around the sculptures so the story could be told and to frame views to and from the sculptures. Other amenities were also added to the park – new trees and ornamental plantings, two play structures, seating and lighting to enhance the use of the park by the neighborhood. |
